Pineal Gland Optics Lyrics
How come I shiver, hurt and bleed,
If in dreams I cannot truly feel
Who would dare say, who would claim
This hallucination isn't real
Synaptical glitch looking glass
So enticing, real and free of lies
Prodigious, omnifarious
It nourishes, it feeds my starving eyes
Artificial the catalyst, organic its progeny
Voracious spectral offspring - so sweet in its hunger
Unbound this new vision, optical regenesis
Threatening, so complete in beautiful deformity
These authoritive visions order my collective senses,
My questioning, doubtful, rigid self to kneel
A Judas syndrome in effect - former self the deceiver
Its denial the wretched kiss that kept this in disguise
Cast off - the concealing veil, the rational cloak of doubt
Torn off - the restraints, the blinded's shackles
Burned away - the agony, the fear, true grief
A new set of eyes cleansed by a new belief
If in dreams I cannot truly feel
Who would dare say, who would claim
This hallucination isn't real
So enticing, real and free of lies
Prodigious, omnifarious
It nourishes, it feeds my starving eyes
Voracious spectral offspring - so sweet in its hunger
Unbound this new vision, optical regenesis
Threatening, so complete in beautiful deformity
My questioning, doubtful, rigid self to kneel
A Judas syndrome in effect - former self the deceiver
Its denial the wretched kiss that kept this in disguise
Torn off - the restraints, the blinded's shackles
Burned away - the agony, the fear, true grief
A new set of eyes cleansed by a new belief

DMT
This song has a possitive message. It is about someone developing getting a new perspective. It may be hard for that person to get there, but the person gets new interpretations.
Purely an interpretation, but it seems to me that the lyrics (ironically) deceive the reader to believe that the subject in question is really and honestly empowered. The themes seem so well in conjunction with the message, for example, in the song "obZen", where harmful aspects of life are raised into pseudo-divine power so that nothing will shake mental balance anymore, even if it is unjust.
"Cast off - the concealing veil, the rational cloak of doubt Torn off - the restraints, the blinded's shackles Burned away - the agony, the fear, true grief A new set of eyes cleansed by a new belief"
These last lines are the key. Everything disturbing, doubtful or restraining is thrown away. It's making the crazy and, in many cases, tragic, leap of faith, where you abandon "common sense" and at least some sort of consideration and morality to attain higher ideals - at any cost. It's a terrifying song, sung with as equally angered sarcasm as "obZen".
Haake writes most of their lyrics, and it's been said that he takes much inspiration from books and film. I heard New Millennium Cyanide was inspired by the Japanese flick Tetsuo: The Iron Man. I wouldn't be surprised if this song was inspired by the film "From Beyond" and/or the original work of the same title by H.P. Lovecraft.

The drone mentality has now completely consumed the speaker.
I agree with Khaos. I saw the interview where Haake says he gets inspiration from horror movies. This song reminds me of "From Beyond" The thesaurus style lyrics make one think that there is more to the song than there actually is. For example Haake said that "Bleed" is about an aneurysm.
It is mainly a song about a breakthrough experience, and more importantly a positive one with the drug N,N-Dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, suggested cleverly by carrier23. DMT is naturally produced in all living animals, humans included, in the pineal gland. Dreams are related to DMT and consuming the substance by either vaporizing it or drinking it(see ayahuasca) sends the user in deep connection with higher beings, with their inner self, and produces visions and revelations. It is used religiously and for it's healing power on the mind and soul.
Looks very much like it eh? Lovely lyrics.
pineal gland....optics. Pineal gland is basically the connection between the mind and brain. its where we perceive the world. Optics, eyes. thats all i can sorta put to it. might be that pineal gland can be deceiving, that reality isnt the way we think it is.
Artificial the catalyst Organic its progeny
Molecule structures and chemical compounds created by man can cause the brain to experience a reality completely outside of the known universe, but the individual chemicals themselves and the hormones your body produces are organic to life and the universe.
Synaptical glitch looking glass So enticing, real and free of lies
Essentially the compounds made by man can cause your brain's programming to "glitch" resulting in a new reality and perspective. It opens your mind beyond what you once thought reality was and gives a glimpse into how vast and strange life and the universe can be.
These authoritive visions order my collective senses, My questioning, doubtful, rigid self to kneel A judas syndrome in effect Former self the deceiver Its denial the wretched kiss That kept this in disguise
The Judas Syndrome can be described as someone with a good intention acting in ignorance, ultimately leading to something extremely opposite and unexpected. Before anyone takes hallucinogens for the first time, they don't know what to expect, but they imagine visions and feelings and acting different. No one can expect or describe the total, complete new sense of perspective. Your static, stable mind could have never predicted something so bizarre.
A new set of eyes cleansed by a new belief
You are never quite the same after experiencing what most refer to as a "third eye" opening experience. It gives most people a sense of awe, respect, and curiosity for the universe
Hello, this song is a reference to the french philosopher René Descartes. The lyrics refer to the fact that we can be deceived by our senses like it is argued in the Metaphysical Meditations. According to Descartes Pineal Gland was the organ which enabled link between the soul and the body. The philosopher ended his life in Sweden where the band come from. He was invited by the Queen Christine. Do you guys know if one of the members of the band made studies in philosophy ?
