Nursery Academy Lyrics
I would've gone back home
I would've gone back home
It's bad enough you're here
And it's worse that you've come along
Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect
The house that built a home for architects
Now that you're all grown up
I know a shortcut back
Welcome to your new home
Welcome to the nursery
We keep keys on strings
Doorknobs out of reach
Come a little closer
Forget the Academy
Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect
The house that built a home for architects
Because the word on the street is
That you've got a weakness
Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect
I would've gone back home
I would've gone back home
It's bad enough you're here
And it's worse that you've come along
Because the word on the street is
That you've got a weakness
Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect
I would've gone back home
(Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect)
I would've gone back home
The house that built a home for architects
I would've gone back home
(Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect)
I would've gone back home
The house that built a home for architects
I would've gone back home
It's bad enough you're here
And it's worse that you've come along
The house that built a home for architects
I know a shortcut back
Welcome to your new home
Welcome to the nursery
Doorknobs out of reach
Come a little closer
Forget the Academy
The house that built a home for architects
Because the word on the street is
That you've got a weakness
Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect
I would've gone back home
It's bad enough you're here
And it's worse that you've come along
That you've got a weakness
Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect
(Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect)
I would've gone back home
The house that built a home for architects
(Paper walls unfold, as you'd expect)
I would've gone back home
The house that built a home for architects

I cant believe nobody has commented on this song!?!? this song is one of my favorites. i love it. his voice is amazing and the music in the background goes great with his voice i love it.
Definitely one of the best songs on the cd - the last minute is just wonderful. I love Saddle Creek.
Also I think he says "It's bad enough you're here and its worse that you've come 'alone'" which I think is worse than simply coming "along" ouch.
i think its talking about an orphanage, cause it most likely sucks to be there, especially if your all alone without a bro or a sis
fantastic song! i've always thought it was about a retirement home/hospital? especially with: Now that you're all grown up I know a shortcut back
TPC are amazing!
I totally agree, it definitely reminds me of a nursing home. It makes me think of the classic scenario with elderly people where they want to 'go back home' (perhaps after an accident or health problem of some sort) but because of the 'weakness' that they have, they can no longer look after themselves, and so its off to the nursing home with them. Especially if the line is "It's bad enough you're here And it's worse that you've come ALONE" as opposed to 'along' because it makes me think that its bad enough to be in a nursing home but even worse...

Especially if the line is "It's bad enough you're here And it's worse that you've come ALONE" as opposed to 'along' because it makes me think that its bad enough to be in a nursing home but even worse if your husband/wife has already died. I love how TPC have approached such a mature subject. They've grasped the essence of being elderly so well, how degrading it must be for (perhaps an architect?) a responsible, adult person to be treated like a child, which is essentially what awaits us once we're too weak to look after ourselves...
I think it's a metaphor for the real world. The Nursery could be life after high school/college. Because you feel like an adult when you're a senior in high school, but you go out into the world and you realize that you're almost like a child again.
I always figured they were talking about a bar. And how the weekness is an addiction to alchohol. And the nursery is the pub, and te academy is actually an academy and they forget their studies and their prope life just to drink. Paper walls is the true life the character lives
" the house that built a home for architects" even though you have money (architects make money) that you can still have a weekness and a depression
