She Got Dressed Lyrics

He's made of sand
Not flesh and not bone
He's as good as the seeds he's sown
But he loves you so
Like no one else you know could do
Put your wedding dress on

On the tip of my tongue
As the back beat cracks
I hit my drum
I get into the car
My interrogation starts
It's in the passenger seat
There's a torn up mess of tangled leads
And a golden ring
Glimmerin' at her feet

And the beat it goes on

She got she
Got dressed up
She got dressed up
[X2]

And the beat it goes on

Is he quick on his feet
Does he ever look past you on the street
Is he ever on time
When he's getting home at night
In the opposite side
Every argument keepin' every night
Is it what you accept
Is there anything that's left

And the beat it goes on

She got she
Got dressed up
She got dressed up

And the beat it goes on

She got she
Got dressed up
She got dressed up

Beat will go on
Yeah the beat will go
For the king and the pot
Yeah the beat will go on
[X2]

Beat will go on
Over land over still
Out of the garden and over the hill
[X2]

hi

i don't think it's "tone of mess" - i think it's "torn up mess"

Ah good catch! I had typed it out from listening to it over, and over, and over one night and had some trouble with that spot.

Edited. Also, what're your thoughts for the line:

"Every argument keepin' every night"

I'm thinking maybe now it sounds like "deep in" instead of "keepin'"

yes it sounds like "deep in" and I am not 100% sure but pretty much sure that the chorus goes:

"She got she got dressed got she got dressed up"

instead of:

"She got she got dressed up she got dressed up"

I mean if you listen you can hear he g sound and not that same sound when they sat up....just sayin :)

murrill, i agree with you completely but all the lyrics i find say otherwise, but i'm still convinced it's got.

This song is like a lover's plea for the girl to leave her husband. The boy singing knows that he can't have this hot mess as a wife but he doesn't care, he pleas for her to take life into her own hands and leave the man that is like sand in her life, slipping through the cracks of her fingers. He is maybe even the husband who has just caught his wife cheating, and has no evidence or proof when he gets into the car where she has been discovered with her ring taken off. The tangled leads could be mixed up lies and stories that lead nowhere. Afterwards the jealous lover asks what's so special about this other man..? Does he ever make the same mistakes as me? What have I done? This speaks to the pain of being cheated on by your lover.

I think it's "the king and the pawn" not the "king and the pot"
