Canvey Island Lyrics
H5N1
Killed a wild swan
It was a kind of omen
Of everything to come
I can't believe it's happening
And that it's happening now
I can't believe it's happening
It's coming true somehow
[Chorus:]
On Canvey Island, 1953
Many lives were lost
With the records of a football team
I can't believe it's happening
And that it's happening now
I can't believe it's happening
It's coming true somehow
Don't you think it's strange, you know
The way it all works out
Brace yourself for storms and Summer droughts, so
Sometimes it's hard to tell
If it's going well
You know the odds against it
Were so phenomenal
I can't believe it's happening
And that it's happening now
I can't believe it's happening
It's coming true somehow
[Chorus]
Don't you think it's strange, you know
The way it all works out
Brace yourself for storms and Summer droughts
Don't you think it's strange, you know
The way it all works out
You start with everything then end without
Oh!
Oh, oh!
Oh
Oh it's happening now
Oh it's happening now
Oh
Killed a wild swan
It was a kind of omen
Of everything to come
I can't believe it's happening
And that it's happening now
I can't believe it's happening
It's coming true somehow
On Canvey Island, 1953
Many lives were lost
With the records of a football team
I can't believe it's happening
And that it's happening now
I can't believe it's happening
It's coming true somehow
The way it all works out
Brace yourself for storms and Summer droughts, so
If it's going well
You know the odds against it
Were so phenomenal
I can't believe it's happening
And that it's happening now
I can't believe it's happening
It's coming true somehow
The way it all works out
Brace yourself for storms and Summer droughts
The way it all works out
You start with everything then end without
Oh, oh!
Oh
Oh it's happening now
Oh

this song uses the canvey island flood as a warning for natural disasters to come.
the 'records of a football team' refers to an interview with a survivor. Yan and Noble found it funny that although 58 people died in the flood this man was more concerned that the records of Canvey Island FC were lost
It's definitely a climate change song. Shoot me if I'm wrong.
Jaesun, I reckon we could be saving a bullet here, they did also record Larson B.
My personal memory that the song brings up is that I saw part of a documentary my parents were watching about the Canvey Island flood when I was four or five maybe, and they explained it was about the Thames flooding. I was amazed there wasn't flood water between the buildings when I woke up the next morning. We lived near the Thames, but that was when I realised TV wasn't only showing stuff happening that day.
