II Lyrics
Pigment pale and figure frail
I feel your hand tremble in my hand
As you rest your head on the motel bed
Asking what's left behind
When you take a bow and the curtains close
They will applaud you for the playing the role
Of a wretched child with a bleeding nose, an empty stomach, and beautiful clothes
Who's to tell of the quiet hell
Cast in your soul, burning you down
A patient too sick to wait
You sought to medicate
You meant to feel better, but all you feel is nothing now
When you take a bow and the curtains close
They will applaud you for playing the role
Of a wretched child with a bleeding nose, an empty stomach, and beautiful clothes
When you take a bow and the curtains close
They will applaud you for playing the role
Of a wretched child with a bleeding nose, an empty stomach, and beautiful clothes
When you take a bow, take a bow
I feel your hand tremble in my hand
As you rest your head on the motel bed
Asking what's left behind
They will applaud you for the playing the role
Of a wretched child with a bleeding nose, an empty stomach, and beautiful clothes
Cast in your soul, burning you down
A patient too sick to wait
You sought to medicate
You meant to feel better, but all you feel is nothing now
They will applaud you for playing the role
Of a wretched child with a bleeding nose, an empty stomach, and beautiful clothes
They will applaud you for playing the role
Of a wretched child with a bleeding nose, an empty stomach, and beautiful clothes
When you take a bow, take a bow

i think this is about a girl who is dying, most likely due to anorexia and/or drugs, medication, pills, etc. he is spending time with her and she is questioning the life she will be leaving behind. he is telling of how she lived her life for others ("they will applaud you for playing the role") and how she thought it all would do her good, but in the end everything only ended up killing her.
