So Many Miles Lyrics

These feet have walked so many miles
And on so many continents
Still this heart is beating wild
As yet of no great consequence
But O
When the rythm is right
I catch a wind and fly

Far beyond these Paris nights
Into another consciousness
The fortuneteller isn't right
It's scary but it's glorious
And O
I know this time
I'll catch a wind and fly

So many miles
Those days are gone!
You're still alive!
And after so,
So many miles!
So many miles!

I open up my weary eyes
To gaze upon the firmament
Again I'm under foreign skies
But longing's all that's permanent
And O
I know this time
I'll catch a wind and fly

So many miles
Those days are gone!
You're still alive!
And after so,
So many miles!
So many miles!

And oh I know this time
I'll catch a wind and fly

So many miles
Those days are gone!
You're still alive!
And after so,
So many miles!
So many miles!

You're still alive!
And after so,
So many miles!
So many miles!

Cover art for So Many Miles lyrics by Sarah Slean

“It’s another call to arms. A lot of the times in Paris I wondered ‘why do I do this to myself?’ Why do I throw myself into difficult and frightening situations, where a normal person would surely not. Family, friends, a job. Most people hold onto those things because they make you feel good, but at points in my life I’ve deliberately severed myself from those things. That is kind of our human predicament, to always be longing for something. I guess ‘So Many Miles’ is about shaking off feeling bad about that.”
