May Your Hearts Stay Strong Lyrics
she couldn't keep the beat
she wore her grandma's prom dress
raccoon slippers on her feet
he took a shot of something strong
to make him feel less weak
and so the story goes--
trading stories of when you're eight years old
he had his first stitches
when he bit an ice cream bowl
she had her first kiss
in a swimming hole
so the story goes--
and the wine was overflowing
and she knew she was in love
'cause nobody ever
hugged her like that
hugged her like that
hugged her like that
hugged her like that
just 'cause it seemed like fun
she'd say, "I like the way you touch me,
it makes me feel like i have no skeleton"
and so the story goes...
of that decent home, that loving place
and it's about time two minds combine
in such a fine, fine way
and may your wishes all be simple
and may your hearts stay strong
check under the covers just to make sure he's still sleeping there
turn wedding gowns to angel clothes for the baby to wear
turn wedding gowns to angel clothes for the baby to wear
they make love like two solar flares
carry like they really care
that they're gonna make it
spread his ashes with the breath of the last kiss that she blew
they decorate when featherless
they celebrate through hungriness
it's about time two minds combined
in such a fine, fine way
and may your wishes all be simple
and may your hearts stay strong
and may your lives be long
and may your wishes all be simple
and may your hearts stay strong

There are so many great lines, a love song that seems ordinary but far from it. Towards the end, his voice-almost yelling. God I get crazy chills.

Eh, I disagree. It's one of my favorite songs of all of theirs, but maybe that's just because it reminds me of someone special to me.

This is my least favorite song on the album. it was a b-side from Meaning of 8 that they just threw on there. I think its a good b-side, not an good a-side.
i also dissagree, this is my third favorite song, behind 'chandeliers', and 'I guess this dream is for me'.

I think it's "spread his ashes with the breath from the last kiss that she blew" not "blood."
This is an incredible love song. It's my favorite song off this album, and definitely one of my favorite of all of cloud cult's songs.

What is this, like... the Irish version?

Har har har. I'm fixing this weird grammar business

there should be lashings for whoever put up the lyrics like this.

"tucked into bed, you see the ghost of your teddy bear" to the end amazes me.

I think it's "he wants to die in the place where she first said I love you"
Regardless, perhaps I'm wrong, I thoroughly enjoy the story of this song and the overall passion expressed in what seems to be such a simple story.

I love this song. From "tucked into bed, you see the ghost of your teddy bear", very strong song.
I think it is "its the time and the place where she first said she first said love you", I just cant see the death imagery in this song, despite it appearing a lot on this album.
