Clearly as the title of the song it is about an "altered beast". This beast is, ofcourse, Man's pursuit of the unknown, his discovery of life and the darkness which he knows will soon envelope his soul. How will he overcome this?
Altered Beast is a popular "videogame" on the sega "megadrive". The lyrics clearly refer to this
