My Love Lyrics

He bends his breath around my name
And I am humbled
I feel small and plain
But his arms are angels by his side
You need not ask if they're open, just how wide

His lips are day
And his skin is night
Oh, and with our love we conjure up the twilight
His fingers are music to my soul
And I feel his song play everywhere I go

My love, my love is on his way
I can't wait to see the day
I thankfully lay me down
Oh, my love, my love is on his way
I'm waiting patiently
But if you see me now
My love, please hurry

He loves with rhythm
And paints with flame
He comes in pieces with no name
I won't need answers, I'll just know
Cause I've read the sonnets about his soul

He can be ordinary in the best ways
And still dance like a poet
Through every word he says

My love, my love is on his way
I can't wait to see the day I thankfully
Lay me down
My love, my love is on his way
I'm waiting patiently
But if you see me now
My love, please hurry

All that I never knew
Can you see me now
All that I never said
Can you see me now

He makes me crazy
He makes me cruel
Oh but I pray he makes me anything but a fool
Oh my love please hurry

Beautiful, beautiful song. It seems that this is the serious and sincere version of "Fairytale". She really is waiting for Prince Charming, just not in such a sad, typical way.

Yeah...she's not waiting on 'the next best thing', but the REAL thing.

It's totally about Jesus. I am not even religious and it's clear. All the talk about him coming and being ordinary but his words being important. She also talks about the sonnets about his soul that she has read- clearly the new testament, probably psalms.

I agree 100% with the user above who compared this song to Fairytale (I never noticed that before, so thanks for pointing it out)! This is a song about a love song and the hero that everyone wishes for. The poignant tone of her voice suggests to me that she's been unlucky in love, or maybe just damaged, and she needs to find the one person on earth who can put her back together.

My favorite line, and the one that really told me what the song is about, is : "I don't need answers, I'll just know/ cause I've read the sonnets about his soul." So utterly beautiful, it floors me every time. The final line, about how she wants to be made anything but a fool, means to me that she doesn't want to keep chasing men she believes to be perfect for her, then being revealed as a fool when they inevitably break her heart. The yearning in this song is just so painful, both in the lyrics and Sara's brilliant voice. I think this song will speak to everyone, because no matter how callous someone is, I don't beleiev anyone can help but yearn to find their other half.

Sorry my post is so rambling, this song just gets to me. Especially the fact that what she wishes so badly for might very well never come true.
