In a Cave Lyrics

I threw darts at a spinning globe
Swapping out passport photos
I walk west to the setting sun
Every single step, I grow
Another second young

All my hair grows in
Wrinkles leave my skin
But still, don't fade
I'll be back again when the tide is in some day

I don't know who else to ask
Sitting in the dark, filling an empty glass
Stained my teeth with more red wine
I'm a romantic
But never pearly white

All my hair grows in
Wrinkles leave my skin
But still, don't fade
I'll be back again when the tide is in some day

Elephant shell,
You're my cave and I've been hiding out
Will you tell me a little bit about
A bit about yourself?

Elephant shell,
You're my cave and I've been hiding out
Will you tell me a little bit about
A bit about yourself?

Kai well what Elephant Shell means was explained by David Monks and Graham Wright in a interview it does not refer to a drug addiction or playground equipment its something simpler then both of those. Graham Wright said it was refering to the skin of a elephant because it is tough and strong. He said when Japan was bombed and the animals from the zoos escaped they euthinized them to kill them and when they got to the elephant the needle would not penetrate its skin. Elephant shell simply is a place where you feel safe a protected.

I actually think it's about rebirth

I threw darts at a spinning globe ( I see darths as sperms and the spinning globe the ovule ?)

Swapping out passport photos ( well, identity changes, doesn't it ?)

I walk west to the setting sun Every single step, I grow Another second young All my hair grows in Wrinkles leave my skin But still, don't fade I'll be back again when the tide is in some day ( I believe that here they try to explain the process of borning again, you know you're dead, but obviously you'll come out being young)

I don't know who else to ask Sitting in the dark, filling an empty glass Stained my teeth with more red wine I'm a romantic But never pearly white (Well the baby is in the mother's womb wich is usually empty I think that's why he's saying filling an empty glass, and now the red wine thing, blood anyone?)

Elephant shell, You're my cave and I've been hiding out Will you tell me a little bit about A bit about yourself? (Elephant shell = mother's womb, isn't it supposed to be like the safest place? And I think when the baby borns wants to know something about his/her mother (the cave he/she has been hiding out)

well I may or may not be right, that's just my interpretation of what is this song about but leaving all that apart, It's really an amazing song.

Great song. If you're Canadian, or just enjoy reading, check out Robertson Davies

this song and Graves are prbly my favorite two songs. i've played the original demos a billion times. the second verse to this song was sweet and concise, not to mention cool imagery. perfect addition to this song. although i wish they would have kept the first title Elephant Shell for this song. it's catchier than "in a cave" to me.

*i meant two favorite songs on the album, not out of all of TPC's music or my favorite songs ever. Be Good is prbly my number 1 tpc song. fyi.

i believe the lyric is "whirling an empty glass." in reference to the wine.

Some of you probably already know...but i think the elephant shell is one of those things you find in a play ground. Its a big elephant thing that you can climb up the back, cus its like a ladder, and the trunk is usually a slide, and theres usually lots of room to just chill out inside it.

The elephant shell is a reference to heroin addiction. Users feel as if they are beneath an "Elephant Shell". This is about an addict trying to get to know himself and move on.
