the way war was won Lyrics

Runnin' as fast as I can

Can't even see where I am, yeah

Over the soldiers and the sand
This wasn't part of the plan

I never see the dawn
Although I know it comes, yeah

If I ever see blue skies in my town

You know I'll kiss the ground we walk on

If I ever watch fire flies all around

Shinin' like the stars above them

The bullets fly over my head

Just like the words that you've said, son,

So put down your guns,
And that's the way the war was won

Over the edge and beyond

Over the border there's no bombs

Falling on soldiers and sand

Holdin' their hearts in their hands

They never miss the dawn

And every day it comes, it comes

If I ever see blue skies in my town

You know I'll kiss the ground we walk on

If I ever watch fire flies all around

Shinin' like the stars above them

The bullets fly over my head

Just like the words that you've said, son,

So put down your guns,

And that's the way the war was won

If I ever see blue skies in my town

You know I'll kiss the ground we walk on

If I ever watch fire flies all around

Shinin' like the stars above them

The bullets fly over my head

As I lie awake in my bed

I just can't forget what you said, son,

Let's put down our guns,

And that's the way the war was won

Cover art for the way war was won lyrics by Your Vegas

This is my favorite Your Vegas song, even though it's horrifyingly tear-inducing.

The "war", which can be taking hypothetically, seems to have no end in sight. It's pretty much saying that to end a war, the first step is to "put down your guns", which can lead to peace. In the end, no one needs to win; all parties win if no one is hurt.

That is so true
