Into My Web Lyrics

Whoaaa oh, oh.
Whoaaa oh, whoa.
Whoaaa, whoa, whoa oh, oh

I stopped to call you my little girl.
I meant more. So much more.
Then i'd like to push it half to death.
They want to, they want you.

Saw them turning heads and breaking necks.
Past time, we'll make time.
See their jaws drop as you fly like a butterfly
straight into my web.
(Straight into my web)

Maybe I will be the only one who could leave her.

Do you feel stuck? It's all in your head.
Mindless, i'm fading.
I miss the other flies, already dead.
I caught some, and left one.
I saw them turning heads, and broke my neck.
I learned to, they want to.
See me drop my jaw as you fly like a butterfly
straight into my web.

Maybe I will be the only one who could leave her.
Should I lie and just pretend that I couldn't kill her?
Maybe I can just pretend...
As she flies into my web.

Whoaaa oh, oh.
Whoaaa oh, whoa.
Whoaaa, whoa, whoa oh, oh

Straight into my web.
Straight into my web.

I stopped to call you my little girl.
I meant more. So much more.
See me drop my jaw as you fly like a butterfly...

Maybe I will be the only one who could leave her.
Should I lie and just pretend that I couldn't kill her?
Maybe I will be the only one who will leave her.
Should I lie and just pretend that I couldn't kill her?
Maybe I can just pretend...
As she flies into my web.

To me its about not taking away the innocence of a girl he just met. Im sure he goes through girls a dime a dozen. I think this song represents the decision he must make every time. He loves the beautiful person she already is and contemplates if its possible for him to let this one go un harmed.

It's either one of two things....either this beautiful amazing girl is there for the taking (sexually or relationship wise) and he decides not to....or it's about the girl everyone wants...she wants him, but he's debating on whether or not he wants to be with her...cause he constantly says maybe this maybe that...so maybe, lol, he's still making the decision...

I love the song.

Seems to me that he likes this girl too much to want to just be with her once... and he's the only person who would want to not be with her .

I agree with zorah's interpretation. But I also think it's about a guy who realises too late, that he meant a lot to a girl who was a 'butteffly' compared to all his ex's who were' 'flies'. She was somethig special and she liked him, instead of any other guy who she could be with if she wanted to. Possibly he was trying to deny this in his mind and he lost her in the process.

"I stopped to call you my little girl. I meant more. So much more. Then i'd like to push it half to death. They want to, they want you." I think he's stopped to call her 'little girl', because she's no longer his anymore. he's realised a bit too late that she meant a lot to him and she liked him, possibly even loved. "Then i'd like to push it half to death.", the fact that he meant a lot to this girl, is driving him insane, the thought of it just keeps racing through his thoughts, bit like a person coming to realisation and regret for not noticing earlier.

"Saw them turning heads and breaking necks. Past time, we'll make time. See their jaws drop as you fly like a butterfly straight into my web. (Straight into my web)" I think this verse is talking about how the girl attracts boys, and makes them turn their heads to catch a glimpse at her to the point where they can't look away thus the 'breaking necks' bit. And they all notice how she's drawn towards him and wanders into his 'trap' i.e. his playerish habbits. . refer to line 'See their jaws drop as you fly like a butterfly', they're all shocked to see this.

"Maybe I will be the only one who could leave her." However, out of all the other boys who are just like him, he's probably the only one who'd deny her advances and leave her innocent and untarnished by his games.

"Do you feel stuck? It's all in your head. Mindless, i'm fading." She's infatuated with him, but he's telling her it's all in her thoughts and her mind playing tricks on her. He's trying to push her away. He's 'mindless' and ignorant of her feelings for him, and leaves her.

'I miss the other flies, already dead. I caught some, and left one.' He misses all his ex's, victims of his games, who he fked up. & the second line he refers to the girl, who he'll let go unnoticed to avoid her turning into another 'dead fly' of his.

'I saw them turning heads, and broke my neck. I learned to, they want to.' He's watching all other guys motives and moves as they keep their eyes on the girl. He's learned to be protective over her when it comes to guys who are like him and want to play her like he would have.

'See me drop my jaw as you fly like a butterfly straight into my web.' She's like a butterfly, Butterlys are insects that symbolise innocence. This time the tables have turned, and he's now surprised at the fact that she's still infatuated with him, when there's other guys out there who want her.

"Maybe I will be the only one who could leave her. Should I lie and just pretend that I couldn't kill her? Maybe I can just pretend... As she flies into my web." He goes into denial of her feelings towards him, tries not to acknowledge the fact that he could have her if he wanted to, but he doesn't want to because this girl is like a 'butterfly' compared to all his other ex's who are just 'flies'. She's special and isn't like all the other 'flies' and trash he ends up, she's the real deal, she was like a 'butterfly'.

DreamersDisease, awesome interpretation. Ironic that Bert uses so many insect symbolization's. Hell, even before TBatW album came out he was using it.
