Santiam Lyrics

Every word comes out an understatement
Everyone tries to find a way to love
Every time I close my eyes
I drift away like the Santiam river

Every heart goes back to its home
And it's strange to need you
As a spring love trades for june bugs
Is it vain to leave you again?

Any script written could not contain you
True love is not like it's played in a movie
When I close my eyes, I feel you with me
Because you bled for a love that is Holy

Every heart goes back to its home
And it's strange to need you
As a spring love trades for june bugs
Is it vain to leave you again?

There the river runs beneath
There the river runs beneath
As it runs, so I will leave
There the river runs beneath

There the river runs beneath (To need you!)
There the river runs beneath (To leave you...)
As it runs, so I will leave (To need you!)
There the river runs beneath (To leave you...)

Cover art for Santiam lyrics by Send, The

This song is about how God loves us, yet we drift away, in this case our turning away is compared to things in nature changing or moving. But Joseph also states how we still find a need for God's love and will come back to his ways time after time, because God's love is so great. I love this song, and I can't refrain from singing it. My personal favorite line is "Any script written could not contain you, True love is not like it's played in a movie" To me thats probably the most touching live i've ever herd in any song.

I think part of it is about the santiam rivar, its around oregon, where he lives. but TFKrawks has a great statement...
