Hollywood Is Not America Lyrics

Born Helena Jane, with a restless soul,
She moved west to California,
Became a centrefold

But once you change your name,
Well the pieces fall
Now she hardly recognizes herself at all

And there’s never any rain, when you want it
A hollow little game, and you’ve won it
Lookin’ for a thrill, but you’ve done it all

So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home, remember
Hollywood is not America

So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home, remember
Hollywood is not America

And everybody here’s from somewhere else
You can make a million dollars
But you might lose yourself
And you can take the heat; will your heart grow cold?
They say acting’s just pretending
But even that gets old

And there’s never any rain when you want it
A hollow little game and you’ve won it
Lookin’ for a thrill, but you‘ve done it all

So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home, remember
Hollywood is not America

So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home, remember
Hollywood is not America

And I know what you’re doing
I know that you,
You can be anything you want to be

So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home remember
Hollywood is not America

So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home, remember
Hollywood is not America

Hollywood’s not America
It’s not America

This is such a great song. It's about how Hollywood changes people. About how you can become rich and famous, but lose yourself in the process.

Hollywood really isn't America...not really.

Amazing song. People put so much focus into Hollywood and the people within it without realizing the reality of it all. The fact is, most of those people have very little joy in life. They might enjoy the ride for awhile, but in the end, it leaves them empty because they aren't living for anything other than money and themselves.

Hollywood should never dictate what America is because it rises up to so much more than shallowness and greed.

I think this song is pretty much a.b. all girls....we sometimes lose ourselves in order to "fit" in with societie's standard of what we should be. I think he is telling us all to be true ourselves...b/c in the end that is all that matters. Its the inner beauty that is going to shine through the most....its as if he wants to bring back that sweet girl next door instead of the dumb model/actress.

Hollywood isn't America, but to 99% of the world that's the only thing American they see. I kind of wondered if the audience (the girl the song addresses) was supposed to be an immigrant.

This song is absolutely AMAZING. It represents everything that America is today; especially for someone like this to write this song because Ferras is becoming more and more popular, it just shows how they look at their own fame differently and remember their morals and reality. This song is perfect and it would be wonderful is everybody else, especially those in Holywood would think of life this way.

LOVE IT! :]
