Lady in Spain Lyrics

I am the lady in Spain
I’ll sing a haunting refrain
I am the lady from Mars
And I can unscrew the stars
I can be
Anything I see
I can be
Anything that I, anything that I see

And I am in love with a boy
Manufacture to destroy
I shall unravel my love
Like an old red woolen glove
I can do anything I want to
I can do anything I want anything my heart tells me to do
Tells me to do
Tells me to do
Dododo-dodododo-dododododo

I can do-ooo-ooo
Anything I want to
I can be-ee-eeee
Anything that I see
I can do-oooo-ooooooo anything I want to
I can be anything that I see
Anything that I see

I love this song so much. I think it's obviously about someone knowing that they can follow their dreams and do whatever they want to do.

If you listen to her intro of this song on YouTube, she talks about her being a fairy who comes into a little girl's room and sings this song to her, so you can kind of get a more clear picture of what she might have been feeling when she wrote this. Maybe she wrote it for all the little girls in the world who don't know if they can hold onto their dreams and overcome gender obstacles. They should hold onto their innocence and faith.

I saw Ingrid live last night (she was AMAZING and hilarious and adorable and charismatic and better than I could've imagined, but that's not the point of this post)

ANYWAY, before this song she said to imagine being a little girl who can't sleep because she doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up, and she's worried she won't become anything good... basically she's stressing out, and then a fairy flies in, closes the girls eyes and as the girl sleeps she hears these words...

Similar to what WittyWitch said, and I haven't seen the YouTube video,...

I posted this as a reply, but it was supposed to be a comment... still not used to the new layout (;

hey guys i'd like to know what do u think about the phrase "And I am in love with a boy Manufacture to destroy"

is that something bad?

i think it's like she's in love with a boy, and she wants "to destroy the 'pattern'" or maybe she's angry with him so she wants to see him destroyed

i don't know what do u think?

thanks

i just figured he was in the army... im in love with a boy manufactured to destroy.. i could be wrong though, just a thought..

i feel like with a song like this, you have to interpret it yourself. it means something different to everyone. with this song, i picture a girl who is so confused. i picture her lying on the carpet and looking at the ceiling, trying to calm down. she can do anything that she wants to. she knows it, but she's not all the way talked into it yet. i feel like she's trying to convince herself of this.

the boy manufactured to destroy part is my favorite part! i love it because it's such a play with words. i don't...
