If I really meant it
I'd embrace a dead pet
or enter into a bet
that I could be hung high
from a telephone wire
with no poor boy's pile
of books under foot
no stack of yoga mats
or foam chord cushion pads
to lessen the pressure of the phone chord choking my neck
I'd embrace a dead pet
or enter into a bet
that I could be hung high
from a telephone wire
with no poor boy's pile
of books under foot
no stack of yoga mats
or foam chord cushion pads
to lessen the pressure of the phone chord choking my neck

Talking about suicide and doing it are two very different things. It is the ultimate act of both bravery and cowardice. I think that is what he is getting at. Or perhaps he is questioning belief in an afterlife?
From an interview: The album closes with 'Exegesis', which has one of the record’s numerous references to suicide. It’s pretty intense.
Yoni: Yeah, but I also feel like, if you really listen to that song, in a way it tells you to disregard everything I’ve said on the whole record, you know. It says "If I really meant it"…but you know, I haven’t hung myself high from a telephone wire, so it’s okay, you know.
I'm beginning to become utterly obbsessed with why? and Yonis lyrics..
should be "foam-cored," like the cushions have cores made of foam.
