Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts Lyrics
We are the boys from Little Eden
We are the heart of Saturday nights
Drank from the fountains of the fireworks
Sweat and bone for a better life
We like our choruses sung together
We like our arms in our brothers' arms
Call every girl we ever met Maria
But I only love Virginia's heart
And we sing with our heroes thirty-three rounds per minute
We're never going home until the sun says we're finished
And I'll love you forever if I ever love at all
Wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts
With wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts
Some things, babe, they never told you
Some things papa done ain't right
Spend a lifetime just to get over
You always said my mama tried
Still we sing with our heroes thirty-three rounds per minute
We're never going home until the sun says we're finished
And I'll love you forever if I ever love at all
Wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts
With wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts
So tonight I'll call you from a fourth-street payphone
But I'll sleep on the beach if I ain't got a ride
Someday I'll buy you that house on Cookman
We could sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach if we ain't got a ride
Sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach if we ain't got a ride . . .
We are the heart of Saturday nights
Drank from the fountains of the fireworks
Sweat and bone for a better life
We like our arms in our brothers' arms
Call every girl we ever met Maria
But I only love Virginia's heart
We're never going home until the sun says we're finished
And I'll love you forever if I ever love at all
Wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts
With wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts
Some things papa done ain't right
Spend a lifetime just to get over
You always said my mama tried
We're never going home until the sun says we're finished
And I'll love you forever if I ever love at all
Wild hearts, blue jeans, and white t-shirts

But I'll sleep on the beach if I ain't got a ride

We could sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach if we ain't got a ride
Sleep on the beach all night
Sleep on the beach all night

I saw the gaslight anthem live, and Brian said on stage that this song was about a venue in new jersey called asbury lanes. It's basically a bowling alley with a venue inside.
The song is about the brotherhood that comes with growing up in and around asbury lanes with your best friends.
Correct, Brian has said this a lot live, it's about the Jersey Scene and the kids that roll out to see the shows. Asbury Lanes is a notorious central Jersey venue where many Jersey bands have have come out to represent.

This entire EP was written on the road and recorded in Austin, TX (I belive) and mostly about the band's hometown area where there was some homesickness going on at the time of recording.

just by listening to this song, it made me feel blue inside.
Love the line 'Call every girl we ever met Maria But I only love Virginia's heart' Now thats craaazy deep.
Makes me think of High Lonesome where Brian references August & Everything After: "I always kinda sorta wished I looked like Elvis" speaks to a desire to conquer vulnerable women like Maria.

Virginia, however, is held in high esteem (as told in Casanova, Baby!). The one you really want is tough to be with. But it turns out it's not that special either, it's truly plain.

Isn´t it "some things papa done aint right"?
I'm pretty sure the second line is "We are the heart of saturday night" as in the Tom Waits song.
"thirty three rounds per minute" (33RPM) is how fast most vinyl records spin
I'll love you forever if I ever loved at all
Spent a life time just to get over her.
When I saw him sing this live, Hollie (his wife) was sat at the side of the stage and as he sang "I only love Virginia's heart he looked to her and she smiled. Also in an interview he was asked "What's so lovable about Virginia's heart?" and his reply was: "Well, it compliments me every morning while I brush my teeth and sometimes takes me out for coffee, though I do get a few stares being out with an organ." http://sideonedummy.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/TGA-PPunkInt.jpg Its a great interview since Brian appears to think that some of the interviewers questions are a bit stupid.
I think so too.
I thought they said "thirty three rhymes per minute"
