Polar Bear Lyrics

In the bright shop window sits a polar bear
Makes the children's eyes light up to see him there
Amongst the tinsel, he gives everyone a smile
See him as you see a star
Love him from where you are

Not for

Not for sale

Past an open window walks a pretty girl
Does she see me at her feet? It's hard to tell
But if I ask her, she might turn her smile away
See her as you see a star
Love her from where you are

Not for
Not for
Not for sale

I guess I'll learn to look
Without a grasping hand
Minor contentment wears a smile
I love her from where I lie

Not for

Not for sale

this song is so wonderful. :')

It's clear what the song is about: he's comparing the toy bear and the girl he loves as they're both things that make people happy but they can't have.

This is a beautiful and tragic song. Doin' Alright was good, but if Queen was going to rerecord a Smile song for an album it should've either been this one or Earth (and they actually did a couple takes of this song in studio during the recording for their first album but I really can't enjoy the recording because Freddie ad-libbed half the lyrics and it loses a lot of its meaning that way).
