A Welcome Vacation Lyrics

Well it’s close to home by blood or block
I hate the bed and I hate the dock
This loss of life is killing me
Affecting unexpectedly

But what’s one more?
Yeah, let me go
Let me suffer nice and slow
The pack is watching patiently
Stand in line to wait and see

But that’s the problem: seeing it coming
Does nothing till it comes
We’re deaf until the heavens
Are beating the drums

And it’s too late
Too late
And I don’t know when it turned into fate
Unavoidable, so I better get prepared
It’s too late
I’ll take ignorance over being so scared

I’m not coming out of this box 'til everyone’s forgotten me
This ought to be a welcome vacation
I’m not coming out of this box 'til everyone’s forgotten me
My thoughts will be secluded elations

I’m starting to lose track
Of who’s alive and who has passed
On and on and on
And who is here and who is gone

That’s the problem seeing it coming
Does nothing till it comes
We’re deaf until the heavens
Are beating the drums
And it's too late
Too late and I don't know when it turned into fate
Unavoidable so I better get prepared
It's too late
I'll take ignorance over being so scared

If anyone in here wants to die
Give it a shot, you should try
I've been totally desensitised
These eyes have cried all they can cry

If anyone in here wants to die
Give it a shot, you should try
I've been totally desensitised
These eyes have cried all they can cry

If anyone in here wants to die
Give it a shot, you should try
I've been totally desensitised
These eyes have cried all they can cry

But it's too late

does anyone else like the version of this song on youtube better than the one on the CD?

and now she has the lyrics in the sidebar of the video, so this needs corrections.

I've pasted the lyrics as she has them on her video, and in parentheses I've put my interpretation of them. I never really realized what this song was about until my cat got really sick and was dying, then every word made perfect sense, so here's what it means to me.

It's close to home by blood or block (It could be your family or neighbor)

i hate the bed, and i hate the dock (They could have died in a hospital bed, or drown)

this loss of life is killing me effecting unexpectedly but what's one more yeah let me go let me suffer nice and slow the pack is watching patiently stand in line to wait and see (Maybe you're thinking about how your friends have died, and you don't know who will be next, it could even be you.)

but that's the problem seeing it coming does nothing till it comes we're deaf until the heavens are beating the drums (Even though we know everyone dies, we don't know how horrible it will feel to lose a loved one until they're actually gone.)

but it's too late, and i don't know when it turned into fate unavoidable so i better get prepared it's too late, but i'll take ignorance over being so scared (I think of this line as sung by someone with a friend dying of terminal cancer. It's too late to save them and you'd better prepare for them to go, but It's a horrible feeling. You would rather be ignorant of the fact that they are dying soon than have to be so scared about it all the time.)

i'm not coming out of this box till everyones forgotten me this aught to be a welcome vacation i'm not coming out of this box till everyone's forgotten me my thoughts will be secluded elation (When everyone around you is dying, you just want to crawl in a box and forget about everything around you.)

i'm starting to loose track of who's alive and who has passed on and on and on and who is here and who is gone

that's the problem seeing it coming does nothing till it comes we're deaf until the heavens are beating the drums

but it's too late

My Interpretation
