The Lure Would Prove Too Much Lyrics
Stone cold, I think I'm taking you home, so-
I can be broken in two-
Just like you
Sexy eyes and c'est la vie, I'll call you sometime
When I'm blue-
Say so, I'm getting under your skin, so soft
I can't help but pursue-
Til I'm screwed
Sunset, everything's fire-
But I can't can't get any higher-
Come get this lightning and rain all over me
Come to, I forget all of it-
Someone, I can't remember at all-
Is gonna fall-
O, Babe, without any doubt there is-
One thing I am nothing without and-
O, Babe surely you know I'll never tell you
Come back down, come back down-
Come, if you're dumb
O, Babe, without any doubt there is-
One thing I am nothing without and-
O, Babe surely you know I'll never tell you
Sunrise, sunrise, sunrise, some rise
Sunrise, sunrise-
on me-
Shine on, I can see clearly the light on-
Crashing me into the rocks
You siren sweet-
Street...
I can be broken in two-
Just like you
When I'm blue-
I can't help but pursue-
Til I'm screwed
But I can't can't get any higher-
Come get this lightning and rain all over me
Someone, I can't remember at all-
Is gonna fall-
One thing I am nothing without and-
O, Babe surely you know I'll never tell you
Come, if you're dumb
One thing I am nothing without and-
O, Babe surely you know I'll never tell you
Sunrise, sunrise-
on me-
Crashing me into the rocks
You siren sweet-
Street...

The more I listen to this song, and knowing a bit about Dulli, I am convinced this song is about Ted Demme, and his death, which has been attributed to cocaine. Greg and Ted were great friends and @ the end of the song are a series of voice mails, some which may prove to be from Ted Demme....including I believe directions to his house and an invitation to play basketball....Demme died playing basketball after a night of partying...then the last message is Greg's mother trying to get in touch with him, she hasn't spoken to him since the funeral....could be 100% wrong, but makes sense to me.
Finally someone put these lyrics up! great song
anyone who is familiar with greg dulli knows he's a womanizer.this song is a confessional. the tables have been turned on him, and he knows it.
Gdbrn7 - Great analysis! Do you have any more info if this is true? I would love a transcript of the voice mails also in addition to the lyrics. Dulli rules!
