I think the first part talks about breaking conventions and the changing of society. then it also deals with death, putting forth a picture of rotting flesh in death and asking the listeners if there is an afterlife ("We hope that life exists beyond our lonely bones in the pine box") . I think that the last part talks about hypocrisy and repenting for something and going back to it; the band then spells doom by depicting the last moments of such a person ("those who clasp their chests are lives as yet unfinished as they gasp their final breath.")

And thus begins the climax of the album, in which our goddess is murdered by none other than us. Drawing parallels to The Dissentience, we throw the meat of our past to the dogs and abolish the way of the past, just as people did whilst overthrowing their leader, and just as they were, we will be forgot. We are but rocks in the great mountain of existence, and we do not matter in the least in the long run, despite our hope of life outside the pine box. Meaning exists everywhere, even in something as minute as my lungs or my eye, or in any human being on this earth. Pulling back to Wretch, our humble religious fellow believes he can be forgiven for all his sins in a simple act of prayer to his god, and his pent up lust turns to deranged fantasy, which spells out the nature of his god, one who is self created, and will exhibit any characteristics one wishes it to have. The final line also brings up wretch, as the goddess ("love") begets (gives birth to) the irony that those who believe in life beyond death fear death, and see life as unfinished even if they "believe" they will carry on.

Roman emperor Nero blamed the Christians for the Great Fire of Rome and thus, they were persecuted. Christianity started to grow rapidly, however. People started teaching it to each other, their children etc. Then I remembered my religion teacher telling my class about how Roman soldiers would throw the caught Christians to wild dogs to feast on.

The message of Christianity is kindness and forgiveness towards others. I think it also means how quickly people changed their attitudes once they went Christian. Don't really know about the second line, it's some of that goddess stuff Arif mixed into this theme.
