Hadean (The Long March of the Yes-men) Lyrics
Sitting out the goosestep
Of the long march of the Yes-men
As their gold card wielding wives
Are consumed by bitterness
It takes a lifetime to conceive
That your days in the sun are but brief
So they snivel, and repeat the echoes
That buzz off every screen
No wonder that the sociopaths
At the top of the human thrash pile
Refer to us as cattle: we are branded, sold and fatted
We're raised for a purpose
A drear existence on the work farm
And then a quiet death in the nursing-barn
"You must pay your dues", cries the humble mind
We're distracted with excuses
Why we can't reach for the stars
And so we never spring to arms
To claim back what's being taken from us here
Every single fucking day "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em", another one cries... We're distracted with excuses
Why we can't reach for the stars
And so we never spring to arms
To reclaim what we are loosing
Every day
Of the long march of the Yes-men
As their gold card wielding wives
Are consumed by bitterness
It takes a lifetime to conceive
That your days in the sun are but brief
So they snivel, and repeat the echoes
That buzz off every screen
No wonder that the sociopaths
At the top of the human thrash pile
Refer to us as cattle: we are branded, sold and fatted
We're raised for a purpose

Every single fucking day "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em", another one cries... We're distracted with excuses
Why we can't reach for the stars
And so we never spring to arms
To reclaim what we are loosing
Every day

funny,i thought this precambrian album had a concept about earth's evolution, starting off as a big ball of molten lava, they even said so in an interview,so why these lyrics about being on the bottom rung of the economic ladder?
@weekapaug-groove The thing is that music is about geological eons... but lyrics mostly not.... I've read in one interview that they decide that writing lyrics about bacterias swimming in empty ocean would be dull so althrough there are some allusions to geological eons* ony the music is about them, lyrics have different themes

*for exemple in Eoarchean (which is first eon in which Life appaered) it starts (and it's part of somethin I would dare call chorus) " Where does it come from And how was it made? "

Hadean(/The Long March Of The Yes-Man) is obviously about the decadence of our today's society. We are nothing more and nothing less than cattle: we are branded, sold and fatted - we live out a life full of debts and fees to pay while forgetting about the real meaning of life. "It takes a lifetime to conceive That your days in the sun are but brief". Our lives have succumbed to a dead, hollow rythm.
