Hippie Hippie Hoorah

I'm pretty sure he says, "Je suis, je suis / L'hippie, l'hippie." Essentially that'd be "I am a hippie" in French, although I was taught that the word for hippie is "baba cool." But maybe I'm just hearing things based on the title.

battt is right, it's a Dutronc cover.

But "je suis" means "I Am", right, and "Le pee" just means "The Pee?"

Based on that video Dutronc looks like he stuck to the swinging 60s/rat pack kind of style well into the end of the decade. Given that this song looks like a tongue-in-cheek send-up about hippies. He’s saying he’s turned a new leaf. He loves everybody — people who step on his toes, punch him in the face, the church, the government, the army. Everybody. He’s basically making fun of the stereotypical hippie mentality. Especially coming from him.

I love both versions. That riff is just so epic.

Well, the song is based on "Hippie hippie hourra" by Jacques Dutronc. In the original (J.D) version, he says "je suis hippie, je suis hippie, c'est ma nouvelle philosophie" which means "I am hippie, I am hippie, it's my new philosophy".

And, don't offend, but he was mocking hippies (seems he was already too old when they appeared), so the song is funny but a bit disrespectful, since it's very ironic.

Ah, and yeah, "baba cool" is a term we use for hippies, but personnaly I learnt that word when I was 18 (never heard it before, and French's my mothertongue) and almost never use it - I use "hippie" with a French accent. ^^
