Fresh Pair Of Eyes Lyrics
'Cause I want to be seen
With a fresh pair of eyes
The single white tree
In a black hood of disguise
I want, I want to be seen
With a fresh pair of eyes
The single, the single white tree
In a black hood of disguise
I miss God, I miss God
I miss God, I miss God
With a fresh pair of eyes
The single white tree
In a black hood of disguise
With a fresh pair of eyes
The single, the single white tree
In a black hood of disguise
I miss God, I miss God

this song is something. something great. secretly, i just discovered it through the show "pretty little liars"... but it definitely set the scene with aria and mr.fitz. xx.
I also found this song through PLL. They have some really good music on that show.

"I miss God" is definitely not present in the song.
yes, it is. towards the end, it's really pretty clear but if you don't listen all the way through you might miss it, but it's there

Perhaps this is a simplistic, poetic song about someone who understands what it means to have their sins forgiven by God, to be made clean (white) - but they have chosen to identify with their sins (black hood of disguise) instead, disbelieving that God really meant it when He said He, "so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that those who believe in Him will have everlasting life" -- an inseparable and eternal relationship with Himself, Who is love. The person of this song believes that they have gone so far into their sin and opposition to God that the only thing that others and God can see is their "black hood of disguise", hence they just want to be seen with a fresh pair of eyes -- they are living in bondage to the lies they are believing: that they are judged by all and totally alone. They miss God because they FEEL far from Him and they miss the feeling of being free from condemnation and judgement.
Psalm 103:12 "as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us."
This song makes my heart hurt because I've been there myself so many times. I fall into sinful behavior and start to get caught up in "looking good" and "appearing holy" to others by covering up my lack of character, when I should be exposing it for what it is, turning from it, and moving forward in who Christ tells me I am: forgiven.
I think this song is about doing or seeing something bad, like sins, and they want a new pair of eyes so they won't have that judgement. They miss God because they have been wasting time seeing or doing bad things.
