Mutiny Below Lyrics
Here I am at home again
This rainy avenue
Put me in my proper place
I'm not the one for you
But you're here now
Can you come in
It's freezing
I found a way to burn your face
And sear the words you said
You made me feel alive again
I wish we'd never met
But you're here now
Can you come in
I'm freezing
I finally let go
And learned to live without you
After all those weeks alone
But now you're back for more
I'm trying to fight it off
But there's a mutiny below
There were nights when I was sure
Your love was all I had
Pining at the door you left through
God it hurt so bad
But you're here now
You're making eyes
I'm breaking
I finally let go
And learned to live without you
After all those weeks alone
But now you're back for more
I'm trying to fight it off
But there's a mutiny below
I finally let go
But there's a mutiny below
Just one more night
You ask so tenderly
A softer side
I'd longed so long to see, yeah
So long
You slip inside
We'll work it out
Tomorrow
I finally let go
And learned to live without you
After all those weeks alone
And now you're back for more
I'm trying to fight it off
But there's a mutiny below
I finally let go (I can't)
I'm trying to fight it off (Live without you)
But there's a mutiny
If I'm left by myself
I can't hang on
Let me go

forgive me for not noticing the apparent sexual aspect of this song, i thought it was about a guy who was nearly over someone and then they show up in his life again...
I never really looked up the lyrics until now but for some reason I always thought it was really "I found a way to blur your face, to smear the words you said" Kind of like he found a way to forget and sort of let the memories of her fade? But idk. It just sounds weird to metaphorically burn someone's face and sear their words, I mean it's kind of pointless imagery compared to letting her fade away so he can forget.
it's kind of an obvious meaning, basically talking about how most of the time hormones and heart overrule logical thought. this song seems to be about a girl who's basically using a guy for sex, like a fuckbuddy sort of relationship. but as it usually goes, one of the two can't keep the sex casual and starts developing feelings for the other. in this case it's the guy. he seems to be fooling himself into thinking their relationship is more than purely sex as he states in the lines "there were nights when i was sure your love was all i had pining through the door you left through". but he also states earlier that he knows she's just in it for the sex when he says "put me in my proper place, i'm not the one for you" he KNOWS he shouldn't be sleeping with her because that's all she wants however there's "a mutiny below". so instead of using his head, he thinks with his dick and fucks her anyways. in the last lines of the song he's admitting that he'll never be able to deny her and states she's the one who will have to end it. she must let him go.
Very catchy tune. I think BromptonXBlend pretty much hit the nail on the head, but i don't think it was always a fuck buddy relationship. I think they'd broken up, and now there's just a bit more on the sly. He still like sleeping with her, but realises it's not helping him get over her. He knows in his his head he shouldn't, but his dick commits mutiny and takes over.
am i the only one who thinks this song is more sentimental than sexual?? if i am it's cool, i usually am. and i'm usually wrong. Personally, I agree with the two prior analyses mainly. The girl broke up with the boy and he's trying to get over her, and finally when he's just made it over the hump of the hardest part, she comes over and asks for just one more night with him, something he's been "longing" for for a long time. When the situation presents itself, it's not really about the sex, it's about that he's still in love with her. The mutiny, the traitor, is his heart.
Or it could just be that he's a horny boy. Whatevs.
well the mutiny kind of has to be his dick in this case because that's what makes it "below" as in "below the belt"

Did you just say "hump" and "hardest part" in the same sentence? Ha!

I'm going to have to agree with the mutiny is in his heart. The struggle between your brain and your heart is a constant one and when you know you should push someone away you keep committing to that person hoping for some special moment. You know better but its wishful thinking.
Me too! I don't want to think of this song as a sex thing, but something deeper.

I agree with megslyanne and Shaolin. I think the mutiny is in his heart, not his dick.
bromptonXblend got this right, FO SHO. i've been in a relationship like the one in this song, it's exactly how you feel. Even though I'm a girl, it's still pretty much the same emotions.
can't it be both? :P heart and dick.
