Cavalettas Lyrics
A salty ring of night fatigue
When I get the sweats
From your listening
Primordial cymatics
Giving birth into reverse
Serated more ephemera
Undo her mother’s curse
So if you
Break me a mirror
Bring the broken pieces
Of a place that isn’t here
Don’t hide that guilty smile
Condolences
Won’t go away
The coins you bring
Left footprints
Blind thirst
And Braille liquor
My bed is stained
With fractures
Year after vitiated year
Four corners you are touching
They will liberate
My need
Bite marks
In the menagerie
With infadelic teeth
Is there something out there
Waiting to take hold
When that whore won’t answer
Who is in control?
And the names you planted
Drop the seeds into a hole
If you force me often
I might jump off the board
I am a deaf con of angora goats
Warning you all who pass this mote
It’s only a matter of folding in time and space
Before I become your epidemic
Is this the first time at my conventicle
You better not talk
If you came here for semantics
It’s only a matter of folding in time and space
Before I become your epidemic
Don’t ignore my presence
Hidden reads the scrolls
By the time I asked her
The earth fell off the tongue
What once was laughter
Corrosive I became
Where a scarlet bruise grows
Sprout the fault we own
I am a deaf con of angora goats
Warning you all who pass this mote
It’s only a matter of folding in time and space
Before I become your epidemic
Is this the first time at my conventicle
You better not talk
If you came here for semantics
It’s only a matter of folding in time and space
Before I become your epidemic
Don’t hide your guilty freight
Condolences won’t go away
You’ve got that guilty smile
That culminates in bedlam
Is the safety that you feel
From the witness
Who was kept quiet
In the wings
When I get the sweats
From your listening

A cavaletta is a woman who tries to change her sexual partner into a self-made fantasy.
You can clearly see distinct parables throughout the song that I hear about a woman or women in general... in fact, a lot of this album and some of Amputechture seem to make connections to women. I have trouble distinguishing the songs though, because they are so littered with references to God.
Day of the Baphomets, for instance, reminds me of a cheating woman who is caught in the act... however, the song is clearly connected somehow to that of a supreme being.
Also, the lyric "You've got that guilty smile that culminates in bedlam," the word "bedlam" sounds like it's being sang "Bethlehem" to me. I know it's bedlam, but it's just odd to me that it coincides with the albums utter disdain for God.
bedlam means chaos so it's more like a smile that only comes out during a time of chaos.

The beginning to this song reminds me of ATDI.
This song seems to mark the beginning of the second half of the album, I meant.
The line should be "I am a DEF CON of angora goats". DEF CON is the acronym for the US Security system. The character is saying he is the security system for the goats. This is basically an extremely long winded, yet incredibly clever and well written way to say "I am a goat herder." Just thought I'd add my two cents.
Sort of reminded me of Cicatraz
All of the lyrics of this song are said to be from the Ouija board The band bought. They used the board to contact a spirit named Goliath. There is a long story behind this album and it is said to be cursed. The band strongly believed that the board and this album was cursed. This is supposed to be the most cursed song because of all the words coming from Goliath. If you listen to the lyrics they are chilling. I think the words are a warning to the users of the board.
I'd agree- most of the songs seem to be as if Goliath were inhabiting the minds of the band, turning this into a vehicle for possession instead of one for dissipation.
It's very, very disturbing, but compelling all the same.
i think this is talking about after Goliath has started to mess with them. "A salty ring of night fatigue" a unbroken line of salt in front of the door can ward off bad spirits, so i think it jumps between the happenings to the band and Goliath's words to them
It's cool that you said that the album is cursed and that this song is the most cursed on the cd, because I think that this is the best album I've ever heard (of any band) and that this is the best song of all time.
Despite maybe a bit of excessive repeatings of it, that part when the song seems to get sucked down through a toilet is fucking crazy and a cool idea. As for the song, somehow it seems to mark the beginning of the second half, and not just in mathemathical terms. It's just like... Something's different. And yeah, this seems to be about the Ouija board taking control of the band, something they'll start fighting against on the following songs.
