Mountain Heart

i came upon a mountain heart
and craned my neck to see the tip
it was a little painting he did
it was a'greener than i've ever seen them all
and tattered as if flew away
did limp a bit to ease the pain
i came upon a mountain heart
it caused an ache in my belly
a sweat on my brow
the height of it scared me-

just waves across a grassy knoll
that you could ride your mower o'er

it caused an ache in my belly

my pace it stayed steady
but the distance was so long

and oh i saw it's beauty pass
into a little photograph
that i've folded in my pocket tight
close enough but out of sight
