Like Yesterday Lyrics

I am just staring at the moon like it was yesterday
See my face reflected in the lights in the window
In the window pane
Trees outside are still
I take a sleeping pill
To feel a little less pain

You're just sitting in the sun watching boats go by
Boats chained, locked fast to the pier
In the window of the boat there’s a picture of your family younger than their years

I saw time come
And I saw time go
Like a fog in the light
on the blackening ocean side

Oh it doesn’t feel like yesterday
But it's yesterday

I like this song a lot. Possible my favorite off Cardinology.

Here's my guess: this song could be about a guy who's special lady friend has moved to the other side of the world, and he's reminiscing about their last day together. It's night time where the guy is, but it's already daylight where his girl is, so they are in completely different timezones. He's saying "it doesn't feel like yesterday" (when they were together), but technically it is "yesterday" because she is on the other side of the planet, several hours ahead of him, where it's already "tomorrow".

Also, it sounds like this move means their relationship is over: "I take a sleeping pill To feel a little less pain". Their relationship is now in the past. He's saying he still feels like the memory of them together is how things are. But he knows that was yesterday, the past. In reality, today, they aren't together.

What do you think?
