Space-Age Couple Lyrics

Space-age couple
Why don't you flex your magic muscle?
Space-age couple
Why do you hex your magic muscle?
Space-age couple
Why do you hustle 'n bustle?
Why don't you drop your cool tom-foolery
'n shed your nasty jewelry?
Cultivate the grounds
They're the only ones around.
Space-age couple
Why don't you flex your magic muscle?
Hold a drinking glass up t' your eye after you've
Scooped up a little of the sky
'n it ain't blue no more.
What's on the leaves ain't dew no more.
Space-age couple
Why don't you jus' do that?
Why don't you jus' do that?

Pretty self-explanatory - just wanted to mention that the second verse of "leaves/dew" sounds exactly like "what's on the lease ain't due no more". The Captain loved to play with words and this line would fit the song perfectly - an indictment of greed at the expense of the planet - our nice cars and big screen tv's taking precedent over all else.

Sadly, it's a perfect song for today's troubled times.

A critique of counterculture or the Age of Aquarius nonsense maybe, clearly this whole "Decals" album has an environmental theme running through it love the line " ...cultivate the grounds, only one around " its a sort of Beefheart rap against consumerist crap.
