Take the Weight Lyrics
Everyone comes in and out
Staring like a cinema
Shut these doors
You're wrapped up in a uniform
Just a cigarette away
From shedding tears
You're screaming for someone to come
And pick you up and take the weight... off
I can't sleep, it's just too hot
I can't sleep and I can't believe...
...just how far it's gone
Every day and night
How to get along
How they could be wrong
Wish it could be me
Money's earnt and money's spent
The claws have got a hold again
You count each step
The television therapy
Is no attempt at remedy
Your needs aren't met
Staring like a cinema
Shut these doors
You're wrapped up in a uniform
Just a cigarette away
From shedding tears
And pick you up and take the weight... off
I can't sleep, it's just too hot
I can't sleep and I can't believe...
Every day and night
How to get along
How they could be wrong
Wish it could be me
The claws have got a hold again
You count each step
The television therapy
Is no attempt at remedy
Your needs aren't met

It should be; 'Money earnt and mony spent' 'The television therapy is no attempt to remedy the new torment'
I just love this song. It is one of my favourites.

I absolutely love this song. To me it's about how many people in "modern" (or is it post-modern already?) societies are unhappy. Everything is happening so fast, there's no peace and quiet and you can't be yourself, you have to conform to what society expects from you, which brings a lot of weight on people's shoulders (which they for some reason should hide). People get depressed and attempt to buy happiness. But material things can't fill up the emptiness you feel. You just need to express yourself, share the way you feel, you need someone to take the weight off.
