Small Planet Lyrics

I was born a world ago
On top of rocks and under snow
In the corner of your eye
I tried to hold your hand

You could count the flowers here
We've got no time for drinkin’ beer
We took a walk around this afternoon
And a year had gone away

You're all that I've got
This planet's small enough for two
Take whatever you want
I won't forget to remember I know you

like a fox outside the sand
I tame your heart with a careful hand
And we talk about a life we both will understand.

You're all that I've got
This planet's small enough for two
Take whatever you want
I won't forget to remember I know you

You're all that I've got
This town ain't good enough for you
Take whatever you want
I won't forget to remember I know you

I love this song. I interpret it as being a song about two people who are in a strong, sturdy relationship. But it begins with explaining that it wasn't rushed or forced. Everything was taken slow and that made it much more meaningful. Now, they don't care about what other people think or say because this planet's small enough for two.

However, it doesn't say, "I won't forget to remember I know you" it should be, "I won't forget to remember I love you." I think that's a really important part of the song.

It's a pretty sounding song. Maybe it's about just needing one person near and dear to you in the world and that everything doesn't seem so much bigger than you with that person around.

When I first moved away from home, I didn't get homesick at all - it just didn't happen. A couple of months afterwards, I heard this song, and it reminded me so much of my little sister! That sounds ridiculous, because I know some interpret this as a song about a relationship, but to me, it's always about me leaving my sister and moving to Glasgow - where there are less flowers than down south, and where although as a student I was out drinking all the time, I shouldn't really have had any time for beer, haha. The fox and the taming - isn't that a reference to The Little Prince? <3 Such a sweet book. Which again makes me think that it's more of a platonic song. I would always have to coax my little sister out from locked doors when she was crying, because no one else in my family had the patience. My favourite line is 'And we'll talk about a life we both will understand'. It's so beautiful :) It reminds me of all the conversations me and my sister would have about what we'd do when we were older, and what kinds of lives we would have. This whole song makes me so happy-sad! I always forget about it, then it comes on, on shuffle, and I get all nostalgic, and have to text my sister :)
