This song looks like it's about capitalism and government in general, and how life seems to be an unfair race against other people where you always lose.

obviously its not about Socialism or Communism, and the claims are too broad and off target to be about atheism. The reason I feel like its about government is because they seem to be talking about an object, not just an idea, that is going to get you, and life is too much of an idea to do all the things they're describing. Besides, life doesn't make you help the rich.

I think this song is about how that we are stuck in our problems we have created and it will eventually get us in the future like how we are slowly destroying the Earth and mankind will slowly die with it.

He at one point mentions the free cheese min the rat trap. This shows us how our greed and lazyness in society will come back to bite us in the ass or be our downfall. Well thats my interpretation of it anyways.
