Holy, Holy, Holy Lyrics
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee
There is a sign at the sight of thee,
Merciful and mighty
God in three Persons,
God in three Persons,
Blessed Trinity
Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy;
There is none beside thee,
Perfect in power
Perfect in power
In love, and purity
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy Name, in
Earth, and sky, and sea
There is a sign at the side of thee,
There is none beside thee,
God in three Persons,
God in three Persons,
God in three Persons,
God in three Persons,
Blessed Trinity

I couldn't agree more. Contemp stuff is so weak. They don't make worship music like they used to. I wish Sufjan would do more songs like it. I have to listen to hymns and old traditional music or else cringe along to what they're making these days.
i cried when i heard this. i didn't think this hymn could be so beautiful. I love hymns they are so deep. contemporary christian artists could learn a lot from sufjan
Some of the most exquisite harmonies I have ever heard are in this song.
It is positively gorgeous.
I cannot stop listening to it.
Love, love this song.
Any thoughts on why Sufjan says "There is a sign at the sight of thee" instead of "Holy, holy, holy" As the traditional hymn does?
@Janie0 Personally, I always thought the line was actually "There is a sign at the SIDE of Thee". It makes more sense to me because it would be saying that Jesus is at The Father's side (seated at His right hand). So it creates a beautifully poetic trinitarian couplet to say, "There is a sign at the side of thee" (Referring to the divine person of Christ next to the divine person of The Father) "There is none beside thee" (Referring to there being only One true being that is God)
