Sing Again Lyrics

It was not tricky to enjoy
A cigarette in hand was the key to understanding
To seek out and to destroy
The mindless oversights
A string of faithless nights.

We sing again
Sing together with quiet eyes
I'd lower my chin to my chest
I thought that would be best

Another pattern of the bricks
Bundles of cells dividing
And South Dakota driving.
The very darkest, dirty tricks
If we still cared at all we'd send a battle call

We sing again
Sing together with firey eyes
A rangle alive in our chests
No this is not a test

Let's sing again
Sing together without disguise
Let's raise up a song in unrest
I think that would be best

Here's to poison
You will hear the noises
You will feel the breaking
It's all yours for the taking

A life packed full of mindless joy
It is not easy to enjoy

Politics... that's all this really is. Specifically, a call to vote. It's gotta be. And here's why:

You can be content on being ignorant in politics. You can complain about how things are run in the country. But if you keep it to yourself, how will anyone ever know?

Tricks in the form of lies are told by the government. If you really cared at all, you'd make a move to stop it. Let your voice be heard. If you aren't satisfied, band together with others who share the same opinions as you. Now when you complain, they will have no choice but to listen.

Along the way, there will be external noise in the form of propaganda to try to dissuade you from your original opinions. Stand strong. Eventually, there will be enough of you to break the hold that the old government has.

All you have to do...is vote.

You can live your life being ignorant to politics. But what Chris is saying is that it really can't be that easy if you cared about your country at all.

Well that's my take.

If anyone has an opinion about the South Dakota line, I'd love to hear it. My take is that South Dakota usually votes Republican so Chris has been driving through there (maybe not that literal) trying to change people's minds. I know. They only have 3 electoral votes, but like they say, "Every vote counts."

It sort of makes me think of touring for long periods of times and how life can seem pretty low at times but once you're doing what you love to it, it isn't that bad.

Though I could be entirely wrong and completely simplified the true meaning of it.

Despite it all, I really love this song.
