NYC-Gone, Gone Lyrics
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Down, down to Mexico City
Caught myself a lady, she'll know how to treat me
Down, down to Mexico City
Caught myself a lady to lay me down, lay me down
All my friends want you to know
I'm going to miss you when I go
But I'll see you down your road
Meet me at the station way down low
Way down low
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Caught myself a lady, she'll know how to treat me
Down, down to Mexico City
Caught myself a lady to lay me down, lay me down
I'm going to miss you when I go
But I'll see you down your road
Meet me at the station way down low
Way down low
Where you going to go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?
Where you going to go with a heart that gone?

simple and catchy, but gets old fast.
ahh i love this song, its like footstompin, handclappin music
Definitely the most fun and accessible of his new songs. I only wish it lasted a bit longer than a minute and a half, if that.
One thing I have noticed about the Conor Oberst album is that..some of the songs lyrics arent as...rich? I don't know..but some of them dont have the same power as his old lyrics do. It might just be this song, and I might just still be adjusting to not calling this album a Bright Eyes album.
This is definitely a fun song though, it makes me want to do that dance...like its a circle dance and you like switch partners all the time kicking up your feet and stuff...I really don't know the name of the dance but its a real dance. [I'm a little tired right now so I apologize for not making any sense]
is the line definitely "where you gonna go with a heart that dark?" the last word doesn't sound like dark to me but idk what else it could be?
'where you gonna go with a heart that gone?' he kind of snaps out the word 'gone' and its hard to understand the first couple listens :)

I'm pretty sure it's "Where you gonna go with a heart that gone?"
I agree w. sterling silver; the lyrics don't have the same punch as the usually do
according to the lyric book it's, "where you gonna go with a heart that gone?" instead of "where you gonna go with a heart that dark?"
it does sound a bit like he's saying dark though.
It definitely sounds fun. But I also hope Conor continues to make his amazing lyrics. But there was a few songs on the album which had really good lyrics. This one was probably the worst lyrically, but it also had a very fun sound, so it was okay to have it on the album. I still like the song, and I listen to it whenever I want that fun feeling. Sometimes the simple lyrics just make me feel better.
But gosh, its weird not calling this a Bright Eyes album. But I'm glad he finally did a solo album. I think he deserves the recognition. I hope he continues to do solo albums, but maybe still stay in Bright Eyes, because thats a wonderful band. But the solo album made his singer/songwriter status official.
i don't think it sounds like dark at all.
i wish this song was longer too. my boyfriend and i listened to this album carefully together the day it came out, and when the full band comes in closer to the end, i was like "wow, i love that opening!" and...then it ended. so...lame. but it's so good!
