Jade Like Wine Lyrics
Left me outside
In the thorns and the thickets
Last night I was sleepin' with
The worms and the crickets
Drinkin' jade like wine
Born from the run
An immediate disgrace
I'll keep no pictures
To keep no pace
Drinkin' jade like wine
Your gift of absence is sweet indeed
I'll return the gift
Your knowledge of need
Drinkin' jade like wine
In the thorns and the thickets
Last night I was sleepin' with
The worms and the crickets
Drinkin' jade like wine
An immediate disgrace
I'll keep no pictures
To keep no pace
Drinkin' jade like wine
I'll return the gift
Your knowledge of need
Drinkin' jade like wine

another song of which i don´t understand anything.. it´s really disturbing to me to not understand these lyrics
Is he drinking jade as though it were wine? or drinking a 'jade-like' wine? ...unclear. The phrasing has always made me think of absinthe... the swirly milky yellow-green of louched absinthe is like liquid jade. And if one is drinking absinthe as though it were wine, that's going to get you to a strange place rather quickly. I don't know what the song is about, but it's always made me think of someone who has been cast out or rejected, and doesn't mind, or is defiant about it.. thrown out into the cold and drinking fast to get drunk/warm/oblivious. In any case, it's a beautiful, haunted, haunting song. the guitar work is stellar.
