Well, I think otherwise...

From my understanding, its about becoming a disappointment or a failure to someone who loves you. whether it's a spouse, a friend or a family member. Sometimes these people who mean so much to you & have build up this glorious shrine of you. They admire you and call you things like "the Golden Child". And they have all these expectations from you. & as you know, sometimes you cant live up to them. & its living with the burden that you've left these people down, you've hurt them, & sometimes, they trun their backs on you....

Just a great song..his voice is so emotional. this song shows how our 'healthy' depends on our relationship with the one we love.

"Jesus as you throw me on the rocks, For love i left your side, For i believed in love and beauty's wiles, Where heaven shone from you eyes" Sometimes when you are deeply in love, you see the person as if they were something more than human, as if they were sent from heaven, when they leave you, you feel like GOD is casting you aside, taking away your happiness, your little piece of heaven. "Tell me that it wasn't all for naught, Its such a waste now, I know you're scared but baby dont you hide, It's such a waste, we'll stand alone now, you'll make it somehow" In the end you just want to know that the time spent together wasn't just a waste, but you know that its a waste of time to ask, there is an amazing sense of fear when you break up, but you know you have to face it, not hide from it and even though you are alone you know that you will get through it.

When you remember that person, you become sad, because you can't feel them any longer, you know that even though it hurt you to break up, you cant heal the pain they suffered and it sucks

My interpretation of this song is based solely on my life experience, I know that every person will have something different to say, this is what I feel the song is about

Easy, this is a song that is so heart felt and, well, purely emotional. It is about a man that truly loves the one he is with, but knows he can't give her the love and life she deserves (The road ahead is lined with broken dreams, So walk, walk on by). He wants her to be happy and can't provide that for her (For love I left your side). And this realization brings him so much pain, it makes him wish for death (Tonight I lack the strength to even move, When you walked, now watch me die). On top of this he knows without her he is nothing, but with her he feels just as bad, because he can't make here feel the way she deserves (When I can’t feel you, I’m not alright, I’m not alright, When I can’t heal you, I’m not alright, I’m not alright). I love this song, I am glad I saw the movie "Death Wish" and heard this song. In my life there has been nothing that has touched me like this, all I can say is "tears".
