I think it's about him leaving everything behind to go follow his heart. Maybe he went through a breakup and he wants a fresh start ("I'm turning the page. That moment's gone") but i dunno
i think nick wrote this song to explain to someone that he loves why he has to leave them. the part 'if everything came true, imagine when I see you, imagine what I'd do' suggests that he badly wants to see this person, but he can't. instead he has to follow his heart (hence the whole 'gracing he stage, but I'm turning the page, that moments gone, so I wrote you this song' part and the ' grab my hand now. and feel my insight [I'm pretty sure its insight there] that this is where I should be' part. in general, what I'm trying to say is that this is a song about doing what you know you should be doing, even though it comes with consequences.

i hear that exact same thing to! whatever the lyrics though i get the sense that he is trying to numb some pain as well as trying to not let his imagination take him away - it's bringing him back to reality.

I definitely can relate to the lyrics. It's about following your heart instead of giving it. Sometimes it hurts, but you have to go out there in the world and follow your dreams.
BTW, it's punch drunk love man passing my way. Not "come short of love"
