Yassassin Lyrics
Yassassin - I'm not a moody guy
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
We came from the farmlands
To live in this city
We walked proud and lustful
In this resonant world
You want to fight
But I don't want to leave
Or drift away
Yassassin - I'm not a moody guy
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
Look at this - no second glances
Look at this - no value of
Look at this - just sun and steel
Look at this - then look at us
If there's someone in charge
Then listen to me
Don't say nothing's wrong
'Cause I've got a love
And she's afeared
You want to fight
But I don't want to leave
Or drift away
Yassassin - I'm not a moody guy
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
Yassassin - I'm not a moody guy
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
Yassassin, Yassassin, Yassassin, Yassassin
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
To live in this city
We walked proud and lustful
In this resonant world
You want to fight
But I don't want to leave
Or drift away
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
Look at this - no value of
Look at this - just sun and steel
Look at this - then look at us
Then listen to me
Don't say nothing's wrong
'Cause I've got a love
And she's afeared
You want to fight
But I don't want to leave
Or drift away
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known
Yassassin - I'm not a moody guy
Yassassin - I walk without a sound
Yassassin - Just a working man, no judge of men
Yassassin - But such a life I've never known

This isn't one of your ordinary Bowie songs. On the album Lodger, Yassassin, or Turkish for Long Live, goes in depth to how an ordinary guy just lives life like anyone else does, except he does not care. He'll do whatever and think whatever he wants.
This song is eloquent commentary on the several million Turkish guest workers (gastarbeiter) in Germany who had few rights, and their children, born in Germany, were relegated to second-class status, had no automatic German citizenship
I really like his Berlin Trilogy, there's something trippy about them which is really attractive. Though, I don't think they're as good as any of his albums from 1969-74 (minus Pin Ups).
I really like pin-ups.
I really like pin-ups.
Whereas the correct word is "Yaşasın", I think he made a pun on the word assassin.
