i understand what he means. he just doesn't see a point in going about his responsibilities. but that doesn't mean he's irresponsible. he's just tired of doing pointless things when he could stay warm in bed.
this means just what it says. his attendance in different areas fails, but his intentions are still good.

This song is actually about dans senior year in high school... it was written because he would always ditch school to stay home and record songs. hence why he says his attendance is bad but he's ditching for a good reason

But i love this song mostly because I can relate to it... hmm and I think when he says "my attendance is bad but my intentions are good" he means "I might not be getting to school regularly, but I really am a good kid."
Because that's how it is for me... But then again I could be off, but I doubt it. Haha... The lyrics are pretty blunt.
