Guyamas Sonora Lyrics

In the hall I heard your faints falling,
your trial and my corrections made.

You have all the prayers of my loose heart.
You have all the prayers of .

No I was not there on the church stairs.
The wind in my hair, a flood through my tear (tier? town?).

I think it's:

No, I was not there, on the church stairs The wind in my hair, fled through night's air

This is my favorite off the new album.

Guyamas may be an intentional misspelling on the part of the writer... there is a town in Mexico named Guaymas in the "state" of Sonora. There is apparently a carnival there every year.

I don't think is an intentional misspelling, the name might have nothing to do with the song, or the story is somehow tied to the town. The reason why I say this is because the picture in the record cover was taken in Guaymas Sonora in the 1920 era.

yeah and each song on this album is supposedly supposed to be about a different town

I think its about fleeing a wedding.

I actually think the last lines might look like this:

"Me, I wanted, I wanted the right time Me, I wanted, I wanted the firing line"

Firing line as in firing squad. It seems like it would fit in well. And I agree with "I fled through my terror". Just some thoughts.

Absolutely gorgeous song.

My favourite from Beirut!

I always imagine Zach singing about failed relationship and he is still expressing his love and yearning for that connection he once had. Now the significant other is getting married "No I was not there on the church stairs The wind in my hair, a flood through my tear ..." showing he is still heartbroken about it. He wanted it to work but perhaps it wasn't reciprocated.

that is the little video that goes on in my head when I listen to it anyway hehe

My Interpretation

i love beriut so much this song is amazing im not exactly sure what it means it sounds like a love song of sorts and an apology/explanation when he says "no i was not there etc."
