Crazed Lyrics

Look how the snow is falling,
it softens every step.
I hear the sirens wailing,
they haven't reached me yet.

And as the body runs,
my conscience stands alone.
Of all the things I've done,
I know this one was wrong.
But if I could bring you back... I would.
They called me crazed.

I feel your heart inside me,
it beats for both of us.
Thank God I took it from the
long life of where it was.

And as the body runs,
my conscience stands alone.
Of all the things I've done,
I know this one was wrong.
And I pushed it by,
it wont lie down.

The light falls on the table
illuminates my soul.
I read fantastic fables
and then I'm free to go.

And as the body runs,
my conscience stands alone.
Of all the things I've done,
I know this one was wrong.
But if I could bring you back... I would.
They call me crazed.

They call me crazed. (3x)

They call me...

It's quite obvious what the song means. The narrator is suffering from guilt because of a murder she committed. At the beginning of the song, the narrator is admiring the snow as she walks, hearing the police's sirens. The chorus indicates that her running body is trying to leave her conscience behind. She knows what she did was run and wishes she could take it back. It can be assumed that the "they" in "they call me crazed" is community or even the world. In the second verse, the narrator feels connected to her murder victim, as if the victim lives inside her now that she took his/her life. The narrator tries to justify her action by saying she saved the victim from the long life ahead of him/her. At the end of the second chorus, the narrator is trying to subdue her guilt, but it won't "lie down." In the third verse, the narrator is being interrogated by the police. She feels vulnerable to the light that is shining on the table. However, she tells (fantastic) lies and they release her. It is undefined whether or not the narrator is blamed for the murder of the victim. The last verse would indicate that she got away with it, but who would be calling her crazed if she was no longer a suspect? The last line doesn't have "crazed" in it, so that may suggest that people stopped calling her that. Or perhaps it is really herself who's calling her crazed? No matter, the narrator will be punished from her guilty conscience
