Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
Well like nickbuddy said Avril is April in french, and i did a quick search on France history April 14 and it said April 14 1792 France declared war on Austria causing many revolutionary wars in the kingdom. Just thought i might add that.
I think liger411 hit the nail on the head with the date. That is the day that France declared war on Austria (Marie Antoinette's home country, whom she was married to a French dauphin to create a peace treaty with), and this begin the entire French revolution and cemented the fall of Marie Antoinette and her husband, King Louis. The common population of France blamed her and the king for their state of poverty and desperation, which had become so great that they felt they had to start a revolution. About a year later, she was beheaded. Assuming that Aphex Twin did indeed write this song for the Marie Antoinette soundtrack (as I assume the instrumentation is a nod to), I think this explains the title.
This song has such a sad mood to it, yet the melody points to relief and almost an optimistic view on what could be to come. I love how well it antagonizes yet compliments the other half of the album's chaotic vibe.
Avril 14th is french, which translates into April 14th.
A significant event that happened on April 14th is the Titanic sinking, I think the song may be about that.

amazing.
Quite frankly a piece that makes me break down in tears or appreciate a melancholic moment.

i agree with cedstick and this is one of the best songs ive ever heard
A beautiful song that makes you stop in your tracks and reflect. My only complaint is that it is too short, wish it was at least 4 minutes long.

One of the best pieces of music written in recent history. It hurts my soul.
Also, referenced in Kanye's "Blame Game" on the album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy".
