Falling Slowly Lyrics
I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
Take this sinking boat
And point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice
You have a choice
You make it now
Falling slowly
Eyes that know me
And I can't got back
Moods that take me
and erase me
And I paint it black
Well you have suffered enough
At war with yourself
It's time that you won
Take this sinking boat
And point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice
You have a choice
You made it now
Falling slowly
Sing your melody
I'll sing it now
But I want you
All the more for that
And always fool me
And I can't react
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
And point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice
You have a choice
You make it now
Eyes that know me
And I can't got back
and erase me
And I paint it black
At war with yourself
It's time that you won
And point it home
We've still got time
You have a choice
You made it now
Sing your melody
I'll sing it now

I have a live DVD of them at the Artists Den in toronto, and on this song Hansard said this song is about arguing with your girlfriend the entire way to a party, and when your there, you look across the room and see a beautiful women that leaves you speechless and your instantly in love. Then you realize it's your girlfriend.
Don't know if that's what I get from the song, but whatever. It's still amazing!
I fell in love with this song immediately after I heard it. I'm using it for a project and it fits so perfectly with the hopeless romantic theme I have going.
When I listen to this song I get the feeling that everyone will end up with their soulmates even if it happens very slowly and gradually.
Glen and Marketa's voices together are perfection.
I was just watching a video of an in studio appearance The Swell Season did for Last.fm where Glen Hansard said that this song was about redemption. Basically, trying to fix something that is broke, and then, if you can't fix it, sending it on it's way. [Watch the video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cXIa3U_jvA ]
I think that fits perfectly with the lyrics (of course). Anyway, Swell Season is amazing, and Glen Hansard did a great job writing such a beautiful piece! Glen and Marketa are both very talented people!
Out of the three studio recording of this song, this is by far the best. Glen Hansard is an amazing songwriter, and with Marketa Irgova, is unstoppable! :)
