I can see it all tonight underneath a perfect sky
Where the universe revolves around the pupil of an eye
And infinities stretch out from infinities within
And I'm a part of everything, I'm a part of everything

Am I falling asleep? Is it all just a dream?
Well, the cars are like water and the road is like a stream
Rolling down through the city, flowing out into the sea
Going nowhere like me, going nowhere like me

When the morning starts to glow out in the corners of the sky
All the people come and go, and the time just passes by
Then I'm only gonna see it from the corner of my eye
When the planet spins, it sings like the wings of a dragonfly

I can see it all tonight
I can see it all tonight
I can see it all tonight
I can see it all tonight

Just taking the time to take it all in as his soul is free and flying. The Earth "sings" and "spins" in his peripheral vision, it vibrates and blurs like the wings of a dragonfly because of his speed.

The imagery recalls highspeed filming/photography turnning car lights at night into long filaments.

this song is definately the best song featured in any SKINS episode. To me the song seems really eerie and fits in with the scene. i think this song almost sounds like someone who is about to die - cancer is singing it noticing how beautiful the world can be. anyway thats just my opinion

    My Interpretation

I believe this song is about fleeting moments of "truth." We all have moments when we feel connected, when we feel like we can see the meaning behind everything. Maybe an intense mindfulness.

These moments come, then they go and suddenly they're just a memory.

"I can see it all tonight," but perhaps not tomorrow morning, as the sun rises and the night fades away. Everything is as it was, until the truth reveals itself again.

i can see it all tonight - he can see "the world"; hes taking a second to observe the world as it is. underneath a perfect sky - he notices how simple and beautiful the sky is, compared to the cold ugly world beneath it where the universe revolves around the pupil of an eye - The common belief is that the universe revolves around well, things in space, but in a way, the world revolves around us all differently from different perspectives. for every person, their world revolves around their eyes, but since we all share the same world, he (from his perspective) is saying that “the” world revolves around his eyes.

and infinities stretch out from infinities within - his “infinities” are his deep dreams, thoughts, emotions, reflections of the past, meanings of life, goal, wonders, ideas, etc etc these things are often held deep in someones head/heart/soul, but as he is relaxing, thinking, observing the world, it gives him time for his “infinities” to stretch out of his core, and become clear in his mind.

I'm a part of everything I'm a part of everything - He see’s the world as a whole, and realizes that no matter how much he may feel that he is unimportant or not belonging, he is still just a small part (but never-less a part) of a greater whole, which is the world and Nature and existence of life. And he believes his purpose in life Is simply to exist as part of the universe.

Am I falling asleep? Is it all just a dream? - while he lies in bed (maybe), he is not sure weather he is awake or asleep.

well the cars are like water and the road is like a stream rolling down through the city flowing out into the sea going nowhere like me going nowhere like me - some people love to observe the beauty and simplicity in nature; he is watching the cars on the road go by, he imagines that all these cars are like the flow of a river. But in a river, all the water flows along the same path and ends up in the same spot (the sea). Then the water stops and does nothing when it reaches the sea, so it basically went “nowhere” and it served no purpose because it more or less disappeared into the enormous ocean. He relates him self to the water that is going “nowhere” (since he feels like he is going nowhere in life). While he drives on the road, he pretends that all the cars are just the same, and they’re all just going “nowhere”, when in reality every car is probably going some place different from the others, to do something that has a purpose.

"when the morning starts to glow out in the corners of the sky and the people come and go and the time just passes by" again, he is out observing the world. This time, in the early morning. he watches the sun rise and the sky gets brighter. and people start the come and go as the day begins (most likely in a city environment) As time passes by, everybody keeps coming and going. It almost feels like everybody is so similar because everyone looks the same as they come and go. He observes all the people as one being, or one species, the same way we would look down at a little colony of ants, they all look like the same thing, the same species. so even though we are all very different, we all have a connection with each other because we are all so similar if you really think about us as nature.

"then im only gonna see it from the corner of my eye when the planet spins it sings like the wings of a dragonfly." when the world turns, it sings. singing is another word for living so what he is saying is that the world is very “alive” but more in a natural type of way. notice how he names a metaphor (dragonfly) involving nature.

"I can see it all tonight repeat x4" basically this is the conclusion of everything he is thinking in his mind. “he can see the world as it is” or almost like he can see the world through the eyes of god or something like that. (god probably sees the world as “torn” and “fallen” compared to what he had in mind.)

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
