Miasmal Smoke & the Yellow Bellied Freaks Lyrics
Donated her eyes
When she was young and shy
Hated her awkward breasts
And filled the yawning skylines
With care
Set sweet
To hear existent beat
To hold the tangible
And drifting ever so gently sifting
Summer sky
Donated her eyes
Donated her eyes
To feel her actual senses
So sweet 16
To feel what life was like
Donated her eyes
To feel life as she imagined it
Go back to sleep
You yellowed-bellied freaks
Afraid of God and modern science
Go back to sleep
If I could only sleep
If I could stop imagining
If my dreams weren't after me
Through piss and sweaty blankets
The deafening hum of some great silence
The jingle jangling heat
The strangling sheets, terrible and fucking meaningless
When she was young and shy
Hated her awkward breasts
And filled the yawning skylines
Set sweet
To hear existent beat
To hold the tangible
And drifting ever so gently sifting
Summer sky
Donated her eyes
To feel her actual senses
So sweet 16
To feel what life was like
Donated her eyes
To feel life as she imagined it
You yellowed-bellied freaks
Afraid of God and modern science
If I could only sleep
If I could stop imagining
If my dreams weren't after me
The deafening hum of some great silence
The jingle jangling heat
The strangling sheets, terrible and fucking meaningless

Well first off this song is ridiculous. I bought the CD the day it was released and forced myself to wait until nighttime to listen to it. So I did and I laid in bed with headphones on and lights off and mmm. The CD is a whole is great and there are so many stellar tracks, but when I heard that loop-ish sound that comes before the vocals in Miasmal, my heart started beating like crazy. It still makes me so excited.
ANYway. I got this album on vinyl for Christmas [yesss!] and it has all the lyrics in the sleeve. So! Here they are, with the lines and verses broken up and punctuated like they are printed:
Donated her eyes when she was young and shy hated her awkward breasts and filled the yawning skylines With kisses sweet, to hear existence beat, to hold it tangible and drifting, ever so gently sifting summer sky Donated her eyes, donated her eyes to feel her actual senses, sweet 16, to feel what life was life Donated her eyes to feel life as she imagined it
Go back to sleep you yellow bellied freaks, afraid of God and modern science Go back to sleep, if I could only sleep, if I could stop imagining if my dreams weren't after me Through piss and sweaty blankets, the deafening hum of some great silence The jingle jangling heat, the strangling sheets, terrible and meaningless
Ta-dah. For some reason the "fucking" isn't printed in "terrible and fucking meaningless." Censorship issues? Who knows.

I think the last line in the first verse is actually "to feel life as she imagined it" instead of "could you actually imagine if"
Absolutely breathtaking. Seeing them perform this song live is like watching an exorcism. In a good way.
Yeah this song is getting me higher
This song is about ignorance. How, at a young age, ignorance is considered innocence, and through maturing, ignorance becomes undesireable. Haunting song, really. Absolutely amazing.
