Floating like a ghost man
Floating like a baby
Swaying in your mothers arms
Sleeping like a baby
Friends stay on in life
Friends stay all in life
Fall they talkin of
Together
Together there's life flowing
Sounding for the season
Flowers for the rapture
Shield her from the fire
Flowers for the sleeping
Friends stay all in life
Friends stay all in hide
Fall they talky of
Together
Together there's life flowing
Soldier tried of honor
Sleeping like a baby
Swaying in his mothers arms
Floating like a ghost man
Friends stay on in life
Friends stay all in life
Fall they talkin of
Together
Together there's life flowing
Floating like a baby
Swaying in your mothers arms
Sleeping like a baby
Friends stay all in life
Fall they talkin of
Together
Together there's life flowing
Flowers for the rapture
Shield her from the fire
Flowers for the sleeping
Friends stay all in hide
Fall they talky of
Together
Together there's life flowing
Sleeping like a baby
Swaying in his mothers arms
Floating like a ghost man
Friends stay all in life
Fall they talkin of
Together
Together there's life flowing

I guess I'm the only one who gets creeped out by this song? Whether it's "Fondle a donkey up" (group bestiality ritual?) or "Fawn lay donkey up" (incest) there is probably something weird going on in this song. Gener is a genius and he twists lyrics and has a mastery of accents and pronunciation. As far as I can tell the correct lyrics have not been brought to light, even among Ween's fanatical fanbase.
So many listeners assume the whole song is gentle. Don't you guys know Ween is often twisted? Why do you think Aaron went and did all those subtly sick McKuen songs? He loves when there is one or two lyrics that unlock a hidden devastating, horrifying, or hilarious meaning.
You could say FONDLE A DONKEY UP is phonetically camouflaged behind FONDLY DON'T GIVE UP.
This song reminds me a bit of "Among His Tribe" from Quebec, a song I somehow assume is about cannibals or at least warring tribesmen. In both songs there seems to be genuine tenderness for the subject throughout, even atop something barbaric happening.
Anyway, I've heard "Lullaby" two ways:
I could be completely wrong. My mind is sick.
are these the actual lyrics? or have you just given your best guess? Either way good job. I know this aint a classic ween tune, but its one that's definitely personal to gener, deserves to be explored...
the ultimate innocence of us all..
some amendments, just by ear... I'm getting the cd in a few days, do the lyrics come with it? I'm interested in the lyrics to this song. The "are"'s in the chorus sound like all's...but don't make as much sense...
floating like a ghost man floating like a baby swaying in your mothers arms sleeping like a baby
friends(?) they are in life and friends they are(all) in heart fall they're talking of together together, there's life flowing
sounding for the seasons flowers for the rapture shield her from the fire flowers for the sleeping
friends they are in life and friends they are in heart fall, they're talking of together together, there's life flowing
soldier, child of honor sleeping like a baby swaying in his mothers arms floating like a ghost man
friends they are in life and friends they are in heart fall, they're talking of together together there's life flowing
This song really grabbed me, despite being a little out of character for Ween. Most of their songs are about substance "experiences" but this was obviously written after Gener got sober, and has a lot of great imagery about nature, innocence, courage, fear. I would imagine getting clean reduces your ego to a fetal state, in good and bad ways.
There is no way that is the correct lyrics and its killing me no one can tell me the right ones. I just went to youtube and listened to 2 different live show and still I am so freaking confused on what he says in the chours of this song. Everything else I got. rufonz38 is close because at one point I heard Gene say "friends they are in life and friends they are in heart" but as far as what comes next I have no clue.
Found them! Here are the correct lyrics
Friends stay all in light, and friends stay all in heart. Form Utopia together, together there's life flowing
This song always struck me as being highly inspired by Antony & The Johnsons. From the composition to the use of the voice to the choice of words, everything rings Antony Hegarty. Lines like "flowers for the rapture", "floating like a baby" and "ghost man" could all have been written by Antony. As is often the case with Ween, the song sits somewhere between parody and ode to its inspiration. Anyone else noticed this?
This song very much seems inspired by Dennis Wilson’s stuff on the 70s Beach Boys albums. His vocal inflections are spot on Dennis. I could be wrong, but that’s what my ear hears.
