Nico on the Night Train Lyrics
Thought I saw you Nico,
From a tram's back window
Late on last Thursday night,
Underneath a street light
From the tram it looked like
You'd been there the whole night
A whisper in the midnight,
That vanishes with daylight
December's cold was calling,
And the snow was falling
I thought as I rode back home,
Why was she all alone?
Nico, you know, I'm not your man but
You can take a stand
On a midnight night tram
A couple weeks slipped us past,
On a tram near Dundas
Nico got on at that stop,
And as she sat down I thought
A lot of friends were talking,
About her late night walking
Lately you've been acting funny,
Where'd you get your money?
Nico, you know, I'm not your man but
You can take a stand
On a midnight night tram
I moved a few seats over,
And as I brushed your shoulder,
She said, 'Don't I know you?'
'Yeah we had friends in high school.'
And as my stop got closer,
I turned my back toward her
I don't know why I did that,
I wish I had said this back:
Nico, you know, I'm not your man but
You can take a stand
On a midnight night tram
From a tram's back window
Late on last Thursday night,
Underneath a street light
You'd been there the whole night
A whisper in the midnight,
That vanishes with daylight
December's cold was calling,
And the snow was falling
I thought as I rode back home,
Why was she all alone?
You can take a stand
On a midnight night tram
On a tram near Dundas
Nico got on at that stop,
And as she sat down I thought
A lot of friends were talking,
About her late night walking
Lately you've been acting funny,
Where'd you get your money?
You can take a stand
On a midnight night tram
And as I brushed your shoulder,
She said, 'Don't I know you?'
'Yeah we had friends in high school.'
And as my stop got closer,
I turned my back toward her
I don't know why I did that,
I wish I had said this back:
You can take a stand
On a midnight night tram

the song title is supposed to be 'Nico on the midnight train'
sorry, 'Nico on the night TRAIN'
I'm not sure...but it sounds like this girl he used to go to school with is now a prostitute. ("A lot of friends were talking, About her late night walking. Lately you've been acting funny, Where'd you get your money?")
yea it is about a stripper, he says so in one of his live shows.
great song, not sure why more people dont know it/comment about it...
Its seems like the lyrics were taken from the album booklet which are different from the actual studio recordings. Most notable is the course should be; "Nico, you know, I'm not your man, I know that You can take a stand On a midnight night tram"
IT seems it's about the morality of a prostitute, looked at from the perspective of a friend from high school.
