Im not sure but every time i hear this song i hear machinery dont die on me! maybe im just insane xD Anyways i think this songs about som sort of relationship and how hes struggling to keep it up. If you watch the video hes spinning a machine and the faster he spins the faster the gears are but as he slows down the things around him start failing and falling until he speeds up again. I think it could have to do with how he is strugggling to keep the relationship from falling apart!

Also, in response to the second part of your comment, I think that sounds quite reasonable. I just watched the video on youtube and, interestingly enough, if you look closely at his mouth at about 1:55 and 2:57, it seems he pretty clearly mouths the words "as we're falling apart" instead of "as they're falling apart. Perhaps a little easter egg in the video to convey the message a bit more clearly? :o Who knows...
Oddly enough, he also still seems to mouth "don't fail on me" at 1:48 and 2:50, which is different from what I hear and what the lyrics say (he adds the "on"). XD

No, you guys think that he says dont fail ON me or dont DIE ON me, but he is actually just stretching out the fail.. If you listen carefully and look at his mouth on the video it sounds AND looks like, " don't Faayaal me"..
I hear don't die on me too. I think it sounds better, that way. But anyways, I love this song and this is a great new band. As for what it means: I'm really not sure. The lyrics don't really make any sense. And I have no idea what pantyhose has to do with any of this. lol

After listening to it he does say "don't fail me" he just pronounces fail weird like "fay-al"
