we've been through this so many times, it's a wonder it fazes me at all
you know it's too familiar now, no talk for months, then one day you call
and we start to read our scripts again, like clockwork I start to cry
I can't say talk to you later so we'll just say goodbye
ah, but yes, I'm reading ahead again for we are not yet there
for now it's still long silences in between an "are you still there?"
and even when we get a laugh in, it's bittersweet and small
it's hard to just act natural for this year's only call
